Karaoke Beginners, No Worries! Easy-to-Sing Songs for Men (231–240)

choB-DASH

B-Dash is a band known for its unique lyrics made up of chaotic strings of characters.

At their live shows they improvise one-off lyrics every time, and somehow it always sounds like a foreign language—and it’s cool every time.

It’s music you can enjoy not for the lyrics, but for the sound itself.

Banzai ~ I'm glad I loved you ~Ulfuls

Ulfuls – Banzai ~I'm Glad I Fell in Love~
Banzai ~So glad I love you~ - Ulfuls

Ulfuls released their 10th single in February 1996.

It was chosen as the theme song for the Fuji TV drama “Goddess of Victory.” The song’s charm lies in its very simple, unadorned vocals.

This might be an inappropriate thing to say as a vocal coach, but you don’t need to think about “proper vocal technique” or any of that complicated stuff to sing this song! Belt it out to your heart’s content—strongly and joyfully! One of the fascinating things about singing is that “proper technique” and “proper singing” don’t always sound the most compelling.

It might even be a great song for people who haven’t sung much before to use as an “entry point” into singing.

Native DancerSakanaction

Sakanaction / Native Dancer -Music Video-
Native Dancer Sakanaction

Released as a digital-only single in 2009, this song is characterized by its calm, steady melody line.

Because it lacks complex inflections, it’s one of the more popular Sakanaction songs for karaoke.

The highest notes are sung in falsetto, which also makes it easier to sing.

vortexPorno Graffitti

PornoGraffitti 'Uzu (Short ver.)' / PORNOGRAFFITTI 'Uzu (Short ver.)'
Vortex Pornography

Falling in love isn’t only a glittering, beautiful feeling; there are nights when every pang of yearning for the other person stirs up base desires and lust in a whirlpool.

Perhaps this song could even be interpreted as having highly erotic lyrics.

It has an uncharacteristically dark atmosphere for them, but with its slow tempo, it’s a song that’s easy to sing with feeling.

Kiyoshi's Zundoko SongKiyoshi Hikawa

Kiyoshi Hikawa / Kiyoshi’s Zundoko Bushi (Short Ver.) [Official]
Kiyoshi no Zundoko-bushi Hikawa Kiyoshi

It’s Kiyoshi Hikawa’s 3rd single, released in February 2002.

Just listening to it puts you in a cheerful, happy mood—it’s such a bright and fun number.

Of course, Kiyoshi Hikawa is a singer with exceptional vocal ability and expressive power, so reproducing the original faithfully at karaoke would require very advanced vocal technique.

But for most people who just want to sing and enjoy this song, none of that complicated theory is necessary! Match the vibe of the track and simply have a blast enjoying the act of singing out loud!

Sorrow like snowShogo Hamada

Sadness Like Snow (ON THE ROAD 2011 “The Last Weekend”)
Sadness Is Like Snow by Shogo Hamada

There’s a single by Shogo Hamada that, in addition to its original 1981 release, was remade in 1992 as a TV drama theme song.

It’s a very good song musically, but above all, Hamada’s appeal lies in his distinctive, resonant low voice.

Thanks to this vocal quality, the high notes in the chorus and other parts might not sound all that high, but when you actually try singing it, it’s surprisingly challenging—so be careful when you perform it.

It might also be a good piece to use for practicing high notes in chest voice.

Producer Taku Inoue is known for bringing out the best in artists while crafting stylish melodies.

He has collaborated with many popular artists, so many of you may already know him.

His collaboration with singer-songwriter Natori is this track, “Lights Off (feat.

Natori).” True to Natori’s vocal style, the song maintains a subdued, downbeat mood throughout, without dramatic jumps in pitch.

It also doesn’t demand much vocal power, making it a piece you can sing comfortably even after performing many songs.
