Karaoke Beginners, No Worries! Easy-to-Sing Songs for Men (231–240)

By the Time of Christmas Carols – Junichi Inagaki (Full)
By the Time of Christmas Carol by Junichi Inagaki

This is Junichi Inagaki’s 27th single in total, first released in October 1992.

Since then, multiple remade versions have been produced and re-released.

It’s practically a staple song in Japan during the Christmas season now.

When singing it at karaoke, note that the original key was tailored to Inagaki’s vocal quality and range, so it may be a bit too high for many average male singers.

If you just keep that in mind, the melody itself isn’t particularly difficult, so I think anyone can enjoy singing it.

MasqueradeShonentai

It was Shonentai’s debut single, released in 1985.

It debuted at No.

1 on the Oricon charts and ranked No.

3 on the year-end chart, becoming Shonentai’s biggest hit.

They also won the Best New Artist award at the Japan Record Awards that year.

It’s a song you can sing along to with choreography.

Go Go Ghost ShipKenshi Yonezu

Go Go Ghost Ship Kenshi Yonezu

This is a song by Hachi, who gained attention for tracks made with VOCALOID, included on the album ‘diorama’ released under the name Kenshi Yonezu.

Among Yonezu’s songs, which often feature distinctive melodies and rhythms, this track is popular for not having a high key and being easy to sing.

POISON ~ A world where you can't even say what you want to sayTakashi Sorimachi

This is actor and singer (currently on hiatus from singing) Takashi Sorimachi’s fourth single, released in July 1998.

It was used as the theme song for the Fuji TV drama GTO, in which Sorimachi himself starred.

With a medium-to-up tempo that’s easy for anyone to sing and groove to, the vocal melody doesn’t span a wide range, and the tune is very easy to remember and sing.

So it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say it’s a must-pick when you want to aim for a high karaoke score.

It might be fun to get together with friends and hold a one-song scoring battle with this track.

Try producing your voice as if you’re aiming it toward your lower jaw inside your mouth and sing with a strong chest voice—you’ll likely get an even better vocal tone, so give it a try.

Gather the Wind (Happy End)

This is a song by Happy End, the band that included Haruomi Hosono of YMO and Eiichi Ohtaki, known for songs like “Saraba Siberia Tetsudō” (Goodbye, Siberian Railway).

With a sensational melody and lyrics as profound as contemporary poetry, it’s hard to believe it was written 40 years ago—you’ll find yourself humming along.

Since it doesn’t feature difficult melodic lines, it’s an easy song for anyone to sing.

loveGen Hoshino

Gen Hoshino – Koi (Official Video)
Love Hoshino Gen

Gen Hoshino’s ninth single, released in October 2016.

It was also used as the theme song for the TBS TV drama “We Married as a Job!” (original title: “Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu”), in which he starred.

The “Koi Dance,” performed by Hoshino and ELEVENPLAY in the music video, was covered by the drama’s cast in the ending sequence and became a huge craze.

Many of you have probably heard the song or seen the dance.

It’s a catchy track with a brisk tempo, and the melody is very simple and easy to remember, so I highly recommend it as a karaoke pick for those who aren’t confident singers.

In the original key, it might be a bit tough for men with lower voices, so be sure to pay close attention to the key settings.

CORAZONDA PUMP

This is DA PUMP’s 14th single, released in April 2001.

By the way, the title “CORAZON” is Spanish for “heart.” The melody is simple and the tempo is an easy-to-sing medium pace, so I think many men will find it comfortable to sing.

The rap part is delivered a bit fast and almost rattled off, so you might need to be careful there.

If you’re not confident in your sense of rhythm, it could be a good idea to leave the rap part to a friend!
