These days, many songs for both women and men are in higher keys, so there are probably many women with lower voices who feel, “I can’t find songs I can sing because my voice is low,” or “I’m looking for lower-key songs for karaoke.” Forcing yourself to sing songs that don’t suit your natural voice can hurt your throat, and it can be stressful when you can’t sing the way you want.
But don’t worry! There are plenty of songs that sound captivating even with a low voice.

Women Artists (231–240)
I Want to Eat Naan (feat. Yuki Kaai)Yukopi

Composer Yukopi, known for churning out hits with a uniquely individual musical style.
Their latest track, “I Want to Eat Naan (feat.
Uta Utane),” released in June, maintains the same comical and surreal tone as before.
While “singing covers” of this kind of song tend to attract singers with cute voices, this particular piece is one of Yukopi’s more downer-leaning tracks, making it especially recommended for women with lower voices.
By all means, try singing it with a laid-back, surreal vibe.
Every SecondMiina Okabe

Miina Okabe is an overseas artist with roots in Japan.
Lately, she’s been working on songs in Japanese and has gained immense popularity in certain circles.
Among her tracks, the one I especially recommend is Every Second.
Since Miina Okabe herself has a lower voice, I think it’s a very singable song for low-voiced women.
If you’re worried about the falsetto in the chorus, lowering the key by one or two steps could be a good idea.
27:00Brandy War Chronicles

With their high sense of musicality, Brandy Senki stands out even among girl bands.
If you’re a woman with a refined sense of style, you’ve probably heard of them.
Among their songs, the one I especially recommend is 27:00.
While the chorus does go a bit higher, it’s still on the lower side compared to typical J-pop.
The A and B sections stay low in a way that brings out the charm of lower female voices, so open your mouth a bit wider and sing with a resonant, overtone-rich vocal placement.
FutabaAimyon

This is Aimyon’s fourth digital-only single, released on March 24, 2022.
It’s a mid-tempo pop song that evokes the freshness of spring.
Since it’s sung by Aimyon, whose slightly boyish, husky voice is part of her charm, I think it’s an easy pick at karaoke for women with naturally lower voices.
In particular, the A-melody, which is sung almost like a soft murmur, is a section where women with lower voices can really shine, so give it a try.
That said, the higher notes from the end of the pre-chorus into the chorus need to be sung with power, so be careful not to squeeze your throat and produce a thin, strained sound.
If you focus your power around your solar plexus when you project, you’ll find it relatively easier to hit strong high notes!
SCOPEAimer

Aimer is a female singer-songwriter known for her distinctive husky voice.
Because she’s an artist whose lower register is also appealing, many women with low voices may already have her songs in their repertoire.
Among Aimer’s tracks, I especially recommend “SCOPE.” While it has a strong rock character, its vocal range is surprisingly narrow, and even the chorus stays within the lower-mid to mid range.
There aren’t any complex pitch jumps either, so consider adding it to your repertoire.
Boo…Praise

Reisan is a band formed mainly by Saya from the comedy duo Lalande and Enon Kawatani from Gesu no Kiwami Otome.
Their sound is characterized by sophistication, with a well-balanced infusion of Black music influences and a reputation for downer, moody melodies.
Among their songs, the one I especially recommend is Uramesshiya.
It maintains a very calm atmosphere throughout, with no high parts.
Because it leans toward a downer vibe, breath control is key—if you focus on vocal weight and audible breaths while singing, it will highlight the appeal of women with low-pitched voices.
You know,Aimyon

This is Aimyon’s 15th single, released in December 2023.
It was reportedly written as the theme song for the film “Totto-chan: The Little Girl at the Window.” It’s a lovely, slightly wistful track, with Aimyon’s slightly husky voice resonating and sinking into the heart.
Because of the nature of the song, the vocal melody doesn’t span a very wide range, making it a great choice when you want to enjoy karaoke without changing the key.
That said, precisely because it’s such a simple song, it does demand a fairly high level of expressive singing.
It’s approachable for many singers, but the deeper you pursue it, the more profound it becomes—a song like that.
