A must-see for low-voiced women! Popular songs that are easy to sing at karaoke
These days, many songs for both women and men are in higher keys, so there are probably many women with lower voices who feel, “I can’t find songs I can sing because my voice is low,” or “I’m looking for lower-key songs for karaoke.” Forcing yourself to sing songs that don’t suit your natural voice can hurt your throat, and it can be stressful when you can’t sing the way you want.
But don’t worry! There are plenty of songs that sound captivating even with a low voice.

Women Artists (241–250)
ResonantiaAimer

Aimer’s seventh studio album, Open α Door, includes this track and was released in July 2023.
By the way, the song we’re introducing here, “Resonantia,” is considered the album’s lead track.
The vocal melody sits mainly in the low-to-mid range, and there aren’t any sections that require extremely low or extremely high notes throughout the song, so it’s an ideal karaoke choice for women who feel their range is on the narrower side.
However, because the song is built around mid-low melodies, mumbling can prevent your voice from reaching the mic clearly and from conveying the song to listeners.
If possible, practice singing with a solid chest voice.
A helpful tip for using chest resonance effectively is to aim the sound toward your lower jaw inside your mouth—give it a try!
MarshmallowAimyon

Aimyon’s track from her third album, “Heard There’s Delicious Pasta,” which was released in September 2020.
Aimyon has a cool voice with strong low-to-mid frequencies, and this song is crafted to really bring out the “sweet spot” of her vocals.
I think it’s relatively easy to sing even for women who aren’t comfortable with high notes.
That said, singing lower ranges with style can actually be more challenging in some ways than developing high notes, so be mindful of that.
Also, in the march-like rhythm of the A section, be careful not to fall behind the beat as you sing.
MermaidYuka

Yuka, a female singer-songwriter who has gained popularity for her stylish musicality.
Heavily influenced by Western music, she excels at complex rhythms and vocal lines that you don’t often hear in mainstream J-pop.
Among her works, the one I especially recommend is Mermaid.
It’s a chic, subdued track reminiscent of Billie Eilish, arranged mostly in the higher register.
High notes might seem challenging for women with lower voices, but because the song’s range is quite narrow, if you set it to the right key, it’s actually very singable.
Dear Panta RheiSumire Uesaka

Not only as a singer, but also as a voice actress, actress, and TV personality, Sumire Uesaka is active on many fronts.
This is her 15th digital-only single, released in February 2024.
It serves as the ending theme for the TV anime SHAMAN KING FLOWERS.
It’s a cool, up-tempo track with a distinctly heroic mood! Personally, I think the string arrangement adds a great accent.
Since the vocal melody is centered in the lower to mid range, I’d recommend it for women with lower voices when choosing a karaoke song! Be sure to sing with clear dynamics, contrasting the powerful parts with the gentle ones.
Linda feat. UtaCENT

Cent Chihiro Chicchi, who was active as a member of BiSH, has transitioned to a solo artist after the group disbanded, and thanks to her wide-ranging musicality, she’s been making waves second only to AiNA THE END among BiSH’s members.
The work in which she co-stars with Uta, known from Wednesday Campanella, is this piece titled “jack quaid claudia doumit.” This stylish, downer-tinged track is marked by a narrow vocal range and a gently undulating melody line.
Sung by a woman with a lower voice, it will likely sound even more seductive.

The Refrain Is ScreamingYumi Matsutoya

This song, included on her original 1988 album “Delight Slight Light KISS,” became well known as the theme for Mitsubishi Motors’ “New Mirage” TV commercial that same year and as the main theme for the drama “Tokyo Hotel Monogatari” the following year.
Despite its memorable melody, there aren’t many spots where you have to belt high notes, so it’s recommended for lower-voiced female singers.
HeavenRei

Rei is an artist active as both a singer-songwriter and a guitarist.
She’s known for her high-sense musicality, and her complex melodic lines—uncommon in Japanese music—have earned wide acclaim.
Among her works, the one I especially recommend is Heaven.
Its melody may make it seem challenging, like Western pop, but the vocal range is very narrow and the rhythm is surprisingly simple, making it an easy song to sing for women with lower voices.
If you lock into the backbeat while singing, it will sound even more professional, so give it a try for reference.
