Challenge your limits! A collection of Vocaloid songs with high keys and soaring high melodies

Many people probably have the impression that “Vocaloid songs have high keys.” In fact, the pitch range you can manipulate with synthetic vocal software is quite wide.

If you own one, you know—you’ve probably tried making it sing at absurdly high pitches, right? In this article, I’ve put together a list of Vocaloid songs with high keys! I think it’s a playlist that can help you choose songs for karaoke or cover videos.

Strictly speaking, in music theory there’s a difference between “a melody that includes high notes” and “a song with a high key,” but I’ve kept things loose here to be more accessible.

By all means, challenge the limits of your own vocal cords!

one thousand light-yearsIyowa

One Thousand Light Years / Iyowa feat. Hatsune Miku, v_flowER, Kaai Yuki, GUMI, KAFU, Seikai, Adachi Rei, Rinne, Hanakuma Chifuyu, VY1, SOLARIA (KLY / Iyowa with AllSingers)
A thousand light-years are weak.

A song by Iyowa that won 2nd place in the TOP100 ranking of VocaColle Spring 2023, “One Thousand Light-Years.” Its distinctive feature is that it was produced using voice libraries for 12 different singers.

Each has its own character, yet they come together as a single song—perhaps that unity is the secret that makes your heart flutter as you listen.

There are days when you’re so exhausted you can’t move, but let’s search for those moments when you can think, “I’m glad to be alive,” together with the Vocaloids.

Following the original, it could also be great to sing it with a large group.

headacheape

Headache / Kasane Teto SV
My damn head hurts

Doesn’t the title alone make you want to listen? This is a track released by Eipu in May 2024.

With a fast tempo—BPM 200—it’s a very high-tempo piece with an energetic tone that makes a strong impact on listeners.

The lyrics use “headaches caused by low atmospheric pressure” as a foundation to cynically portray the painful situations we inevitably encounter in life.

It’s a highly relatable, upbeat song.

The high notes make their appearance in the chorus!

A spine-tingling Vocaloid track is here! “Maegamist” by MARETU is a song released in 2016 that portrays the earnest desire to avert one’s eyes from the pain of lost love.

It strikingly depicts the struggle to escape heartbreak intertwined with lingering attachment to past memories.

Ultra Trailermasalada

Ultra Trailer / Kasane Teto SV
Ultra Trailer Masalada

You can’t help but fall in love with the energetic, dynamic sound! Composed by Masarada and released in November 2023, this track is a standout.

The combination of Kasane Teto’s powerful vocals and lyrics that depict inner conflict and a resolve for the future is superb.

Add in the driving sound arrangement, and it all comes together to create an exhilarating sense of freshness.

At this point, I say don’t worry about the pitch—just sing your heart out! Go for it, with all your strength!

PostscriptOrangestar

Orangestar – Postscript (feat. Hatsune Miku)
PostscriptOrangestar

Released in July 2024 as a track by Orangestar.

It was included as the title track on the EP “Postscript – EP” and was also performed on the solo tour.

Hatsune Miku’s clear, high-pitched vocals leave a strong impression, and the lyrics—centered on the passage of time and the fragility of life—are paired with an energetic sound.

Since it makes extensive use of high notes, singing it in the original key is, of course, challenging—so let’s see how far you can go!

Wind to flowers balloon

“Hana ni Kaze,” released by Balloon in February 2023, is the image song for the collaboration project “360 Reality Audio” between Hatsune Miku and Sony Store.

The lyrics, which deftly portray delicate emotions such as loneliness, love, and doubts about life, resonate deeply with listeners.

In the music video by Avogado6, unspoken feelings are expressed through sign language and ballet.

It is loved widely beyond the boundaries of the Vocaloid scene.

Can you sing the chorus’s range without adjusting the key?

High-pitched Vocal Range TestWaiP Kimura

[Hatsune Miku] High-Note Addict Vocal Range Test [Original PV]
High-Pitched Vocal Range Test by Kimura YP

This is a song that’s uniquely suited to Vocaloid.

It was released by Kimura Y-P in 2013.

He reportedly created it for singers who can hit very high notes.

Its hallmark is phrases that climb higher in pitch as the song progresses.

If you can sing it to the end, you’re considered to have passed—but it’s at a level where you might wonder if a human can even produce those notes.

It’s a good way to check how high you can sing.

Be careful not to strain your throat.

At karaoke with friends, you can compete to see how high you can go—it’s sure to liven things up.
