Challenge your limits! A collection of Vocaloid songs with high keys and soaring high melodies

Many people probably have the impression that “Vocaloid songs have high keys.” In fact, the pitch range you can manipulate with synthetic vocal software is quite wide.

If you own one, you know—you’ve probably tried making it sing at absurdly high pitches, right? In this article, I’ve put together a list of Vocaloid songs with high keys! I think it’s a playlist that can help you choose songs for karaoke or cover videos.

Strictly speaking, in music theory there’s a difference between “a melody that includes high notes” and “a song with a high key,” but I’ve kept things loose here to be more accessible.

By all means, challenge the limits of your own vocal cords!

collapse; fainting spell (colloquial/slang)Iyowa

Kyu-kurarin / Iyowa feat. KAFU
Kyūkurarin iyowa

A track by Vocaloid producer Iyowa, who made their debut in their second year of high school and took their name from having a weak stomach.

The slightly unstable yet cute intro, the catchy pop melody that sticks in your ears, and the arrangement that seems to blend both drive and weightlessness make a strong impression throughout the song.

With its fast tempo, high key, and tricky elements like sudden beat changes mid-song, you might find it difficult to sing perfectly at karaoke.

However, precisely because of that, it feels great if you can make it through—so try singing it with the intention of pushing your limits.

LaviSorry

Lavie / Surii feat. Kagamine Len
Ravi-sorry

Vocaloid producer Surii, who began making music inspired by the TV anime K-On! and has multiple Hall-of-Fame tracks, released his 20th song “Luv,” which was chosen as the theme song for a character in the mobile game #Compass: Combat Providence Analysis System.

It’s challenging not only because it maintains high notes throughout, but also due to its intricate melody; however, once you can sing it, karaoke becomes even more enjoyable.

With over 10 million views on YouTube, it’s a number that many people are likely to know.

Goodbye DeclarationChinozo

Chinozo “Goodbye Declaration” feat. FloweR
Goodbye Declaration Chinozo

From digital sounds to full band arrangements, the widely crossover musical style of Vocaloid producer Chinozo has garnered strong support, especially among younger listeners.

This track, which has surpassed 60 million views on YouTube and inspired numerous covers by singers and parody versions by YouTubers, has become one of Chinozo’s signature songs.

With rapid-fire lyrics, tricky breathing points, and a melody that demands the high pitches characteristic of Vocaloid numbers, it looks like a real challenge to get through even at karaoke.

Precisely because it’s tough to sing, this piece lets you experience one of the most exciting appeals of Vocaloid music.

Tinplate DanceHyuga Denko

Among Vocaloid tracks where not only the music but also the MV is considered part of the appeal, producer Hinata Denko is known for competing with just the music alone—using only a single thumbnail image.

This song, the first of their works to hit a million plays, features a thrilling guitar riff and relentless melodies that really get you fired up.

With rapid-fire delivery, frequent melodic leaps, and even passages in a high key, it compresses the hallmarks and challenges of Vocaloid music into a high-difficulty number.

But that’s exactly why, if you can nail it at karaoke, you’re guaranteed to be a hero.

Amanojaku164

Amano Jakku / 164 feat. GUMI (Official)
Amano-jaku 164

A song by 164, who is active as a guitarist and Vocaloid producer.

Often said to be a landmark in Vocaloid history, it’s also highly popular among fans, with a novel based on the song released in 2014.

Beyond the chorus that features the characteristically high pitches typical of Vocaloid tracks, the melody overall includes many large intervals, plus irregular meter in the pre-chorus and key changes in the latter half—making it quite difficult for a human to sing.

Even so, it’s catchy and easy to remember, which makes it the kind of number you want to sing despite knowing how challenging it is.

An intro marked by the softly resonant piano notes—“tan… tan…”—leaves a striking impression.

From there, you can imagine a story unfolding in a cold, unfamiliar world that’s about to begin.

The uninterrupted flow of tones and the satisfying clarity of the vocals laid over them create a comfort that’s simply irresistible.

As the creator described it as a “Frozen Nonsense Theater,” the song sometimes proceeds exactly as we expect, and at other times boldly subverts those expectations, offering surprise and delight.

It’s a challenging song to sing, but it’s one that makes you want to try and present your own expression.

Failed GirlKairiki Bear × MARETU

[Official] Failure Girl / Kairiki Bear, MARETU feat. Hatsune Miku
Failed Work Girl Kairiki Bear × MARETU

A bouncy yet somewhat dark Vocaloid track you’ll want to play on repeat.

It’s a collaboration song by popular Vocaloid producers Kairiki Bear and MARETU, released in 2015.

The synth riffs and drum tracks are awesome, and you can even feel some metal elements in the instrumental break.

The lyrics—steeped in self-deprecation, like “I’m a person the world doesn’t need”—really hit home.

If you sing it at karaoke, be careful not to strain your throat.

Let the rhythm of the song move your body, and enjoy.
